THE CATALOG’S MISSION

The Catalog for Giving is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of New York City children adversely affected by poverty, drugs, crime, and violence. The Catalog identifies, funds, and supports innovative, community-based start-up organizations providing valuable skills to disadvantaged youth, and in doing so sets them on new paths to success. Through creativity and the efforts of many volunteers, these organizations deliver extraordinary rewards to the youth and communities they serve.

You’re about to have a shopping experience you won’t find anywhere else – an online catalog where you don’t buy, you give. Buy skates for a budding ice star in Harlem. Give homeless teens the skills to move from the streets into careers. Buy art supplies that will help kids heal the wounds of domestic violence... and much more. SAVE THE DATE! – 2010 URBAN HEROES BENEFIT

Our 15th Annual Urban Heroes Benefit is set for Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 at Guastavino’s in New York City.

Among our honorees this year will be Steve Kohn, President & Principal, Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick-Goldman, LLC. Steve is a long-time supporter of the Catalog. His mother, Barbara Kohn Welsh, has also been a generous supporter and advocate for many years, and is a member of our honorary board of directors. You’ll be inspired as the 10 kids selected as Urban Heroes by our member organizations take the stage and tell their triumphant stories. More information here.

A great night out for everyone involved and some serious funding to help our city’s underserved youth. A big thank you to everyone who attended, the member organizations and the Gotham Comedy Club for hosting and helping us have such a memorable evening, and a special thanks to our board members who sold tickets and promoted the event. We are already looking forward to the 2nd Annual event where our goal will be to sell out Gotham!
