South Bronx United combines soccer with educational enrichment, college prep, health and wellness and leadership development to engage 1000 youth aged 4-19. South Bronx, one of the poorest congressional districts in the U.S., is home to a fast growing immigrant community that is passionate for soccer. Whether they come for the drop-in soccer clinics on the weekend or the intensive after school teams and tutoring, participants find a wide array of support and recreation at SBU!
Fast Facts:
- 95% of SBU students are immigrants or first-generation Americans.
- 100% of SBU’s 2016-17 high school seniors graduated in four years.
- 98% of 2016-17 SBU graduates matriculated into college. Financial reasons, including ineligibility for federal aid due to immigration issues, led to a few students deferring for a year.
